NYTimes on Authors Reading Blogs

First it was checking your Amazon ranking. Now it's searching for yourself on Technorati. The NYTimes has a quicky essay from Pamela Paul about the masochistic compulsion for authors to see what people are saying about them in the blogosphere. (Plus, some actual side benefits.)

Says the ideally-named Rick Moody, "It's like taking a pill to enhance suicidal ideation. Even the good ones make me want to kill myself."
